Public speaking can be very rewarding for a myrriad of reasons, especially when it's linked to augmenting your income. There's no greater feeling than knowing that through your intervention/speaking you help others improve their lives, job-satisfaction, relationships, etc. And, of course, the little extra income doesn't hurt either.
If I was independently wealthy (yes, I gave away my "secret" - I'm not a multi-gazillionaire), I'd speak for free several times per week for the rest of my life. It's a wonderful experience. Does it seem crazy? No, it's not as hard as many people think. It's really like riding a bike: at first it's scarry, but the more you practice the easier it gets.
